I ordered my usual size medium. When I first tried it on before washing, I felt it would be perfect - sleeves plenty long enough (well past my wrists) and night shirt right to my knees. the flannel felt quite soft. Plus pockets-yay! After washing according to the instructions, in cold water and then putting it on low heat in the dryer for 10 minutes and letting it air dry for the remainder, I went to try it on and the sleeves shrunk by 4 to 5 inches, as did the length of the night shirt. Sleeves now uncomfortably short. I expect some shrinking but wow; not nearly as much as it did! While I gave this three stars, I don’t think it quite deserves three… More like 2 1/2. I don’t know what happened to Lanz of Salzburg flannel, but after washing all of the pieces that I’ve purchased over the last few years the material does not soften overtime. Rather, it seems to remain pretty rough after washing. So overall, I’m a bit disappointed. It is a darling design and I’ll still use it, but it’s not performing to my expectation. This will likely be my last purchase.

This flannel material keeps me toasty warm and the small size fits me though I wear a medium usually. The only downside is the elastic band cuffs. Though it’s a cute design, they tend to ride up and then pinch. I snipped the elastic and now they’re loose and comfortable.
